SUNDAY WORSHIP
We might be distant from each other physically, but we needn't be spiritually - and we certainly need not be distant from God...

MARK 9:2-9
A Lego animation by Davit Rickards
Six days later Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain, where they were alone. As they looked on, a change came over Jesus, and his clothes became shining white—whiter than anyone in the world could wash them. Then the three disciples saw Elijah and Moses talking with Jesus. Peter spoke up and said to Jesus, “Teacher, how good it is that we are here! We will make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” He and the others were so frightened that he did not know what to say.
Then a cloud appeared and covered them with its shadow, and a voice came from the cloud, “This is my own dear Son—listen to him!” They took a quick look around but did not see anyone else; only Jesus was with them.
As they came down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, “Don't tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has risen from death.”
What kind of directions did Peter, James and John get when they were in the cloud?
What did they see when the cloud lifted?
Why were these instructions important for them?
Hint: Find a Bible and look at the chapter before this one – What had Jesus just been saying to his disciples before all this happened?
PHILIPPIANS 3:10-14
Read by George Barnes in the GNB
All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death, in the hope that I myself will be raised from death to life. I do not claim that I have already succeeded or have already become perfect. I keep striving to win the prize for which Christ Jesus has already won me to himself. Of course, my friends, I really do not think that I have already won it; the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead. So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God's call through Christ Jesus to the life above.
Pressing On Series Song
Today you can choose from one of the versions we've already had over recent weeks.
Or, you might prefer to play the instrumental version and prayerfully meditate on the words.

In the secret, in the quiet place
In the stillness You are there.
In the secret, in the quiet hour I wait,
Only for You,
'Cause I want to know You more;
I want to know You,
I want to hear Your voice
I want to know You more.
I want to touch You,
I want to see Your face
I want to know You more.
I am reaching for the highest goal,
that I might receive the prize.
Pressing onward, pushing every hindrance aside,
Out of my way,
‘Cause I want to know you more

You could print the maps below to help you think about places where God's light and love is needed. Use highlighters to colour those places. As you colour, pray 'Lord Jesus, please bring your light and love'.
As we move from this time into the week ahead, here’s a new song that’s a wonderful reminder that the God we have celebrated here is with us wherever we are, whatever we’re doing…
