Even though we can't meet together,

we can still be together!

June 21

On the Socially Distant Sunday Worship page, we've just been giving thanks to God for making us who we are.

Elephants have trunks. Worms wriggle. Bears have fuzzy wuzzy hair. What makes you who you are? What's special about you?

Today, we're going to see in Peter's letter that we all have gifts that we can use to bless each other. Let's find out more:

Love, Peter...

The time is near when all things will end. So keep your minds clear, and control yourselves. Then you will be able to pray. Most importantly, love each other deeply. Love has a way of not looking at others’ sins. Open your homes to each other, without complaining. Each of you received a spiritual gift. God has shown you his grace in giving you different gifts. And you are like servants who are responsible for using God’s gifts. So be good servants and use your gifts to serve each other. Anyone who speaks should speak words from God. The person who serves should serve with the strength that God gives. You should do these things so that in everything God will be praised through Jesus Christ. Power and glory belong to him forever and ever. Amen.

Questions to Think and Talk About

Can you link the pictures with things that Peter said? What did he say about these things?

Why is loving each other and serving each other so important to Peter?

The Apostle Paul also talks about gifts that God gives through the Holy Spirit. Do you know any that he mentions? Find a Bible and look up 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12 to see some examples.

Talk with your family about what it shows about you. How can you be using your gifts in our church family?

Peter says, "love has a way of not looking at others' sins".

In many Bibles that is written in this way:

"Love covers over loads of sins"

So why not take two sheets of (A4) paper...

On one, make a big messy, dirty, scribbly mess. Cover the whole paper (if you like you can include the word sin or even write a few different sins).

On the other, write LOVE - in big beautiful letters - and carefully colour them in (if you like, you can write all the words in white above). Perhaps also decorate it with some hearts?

Now take your two sheets and stick them together so that the love sheet covers over the sins sheet. This helps us to remember how powerful love is!

A Prayer

Thank you, Jesus, that you give us gifts so that we can help each other.

Help us to serve each other with your love so that everyone will know how great you are.

See you next Sunday at 3pm for...
