JUNIOR CHURCH

Even though we can't meet together,

we can still be together!

April 5 - Palm Sunday

(Thanks to Nicola Grieves, our Synod's Children & Youth Officer for providing some of the ideas and links in today's Palm Sunday JC!)

Hello!

Hi Everyone! Thanks to those who sent pictures of their sheep from last week! You can see them on the Socially Distant Sunday Worship page! So, what's going on today?...

Story

So what happened on "Palm Sunday" all those years ago? Here's the story...

If you want to read the story together in the Bible, it's in Matthew 21:1-17

(Two child-friendly versions available here).

Prayer

So, today we're celebrating Jesus arriving as King!

Here's a fun prayer with actions that you can do with your family...

Jesus, our King,

we offer you the praise of our hands,

(WAVE HANDS)

we offer you the praise of our voices,

(SHOUT "Hosanna!")

we offer you the praise of our feet,

(STAMP FEET)

we offer you the praise of our hearts.

(PLACE HANDS ON HEARTS)

Hosanna to the Son of David!

Amen.

Make a Banner!

Sing

So, grab your instruments and let's praise God! Join with the grown ups on today's Socially Distant Sunday Worship page and sing: Praise is Rising and Rescuer.

Have a look at this cool idea for making a Palm Sunday Banner

If you'd like to sing the song in the video while you're making your palm leaves, you can play it by pressing the button here:

Make a Palm Cross!

Palm Cross Prayer

Today we're celebrating that Jesus came as our king. But to be our king, he needed to die on the cross. By dying on the cross he was able to give us life and beat all the evil in our world.

So, take the cross that you've made and hold it in your hand and take a few moments in quiet to pray for:

  • Things you are worried about

  • People who are helping keep us safe during these difficult times

  • For your friends and family that you are not able to visit

  • For your own home and family

Some extras...

Many of us love Rend Collective's 'My Lighthouse' song - a song about God keeping us safe when life feels like a storm (quite relevant right now?)! Well, Rend Collective have written a story to go along with the song. You can hear it here - and sing along to the song as well!...

My Lighthouse - the story!

This week you might like to continue watching the Easter story in the same video series as the one at the start of today's JC...

The Easter Story continues...
